Support Request: Onscreen Keyboard numeric part dutch-belgium layout

Description

Hello,

I have a question concerning the onscreen keyboard layout in Sitekiosk. More specific the numeric keypad part.

Using Win81, Sitekiosk 8.9.2821 and keyboard layout NL-BE (dutch-belgium, azerty) the Sitekiosk keyboard doesn't display the numbers, but symbols like
"&", "é", "(" and so on. It behaves as if you keep the shift-key pressed. Shift-lock is not active. It's not possible to enter numeric values with this keyboard.

The same keyboard layout in Windows, outside Sitekiosk works as expected and does show the numbers.

When I select another keyboard-language like Dutch-Netherlands (qwerty,NL-NL) in Sitekiosk, the numbers are correctly displayed and usable.

In the attached .zip file (I hope it gets through) you will find the following files :
- My Sitekiosk config file : keyboardtest.skcfg, wich is a very basic testfile.
- a screenshot with the faulty keyboard in Sitekiosk : Sitekiosk_NL-BE.jpg
- a screenshot with the same keyboard layout in the Win 81 onscreen keyboard : Win81_NL-BE.jpg
- a screenshot with a correct keyboard in Sitekiosk : Sitekiosk_NL-NL.jpg (Too bad this is not the correct language for us because we use azerty and not qwerty)

This behavior occurs both in run-once and auto-start mode, with or without the restricted userprofile.
In my search on this forum I found ticket No 20265, which also addresses an issue concerning the numeric keypath and the NL-language, so I think I'm maybe experiencing the same problem.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

With the Belgium keyboard language layout the numeric keys are only available with shift button.

With the onscreen keyboard layout you have chosen (Windows 8 Touchscreen) you can access the numbers at the number section when pressing the shift button before.

Alternatively you may use another onscreen keyboard (e.g. the TouchBrowser, International Black or Natural Black keyboard).

Thx Michael,

Can you instruct me to how to use the shift key to enter the numeric values, only using the Windows 8 Touchscreen keyboard in the Belgium layout ?

I assume the shift key is the arrow up symbol, which is available in the keyboard section with the alphabet and which allows me to enter capitals. However, when I 'press' this key, it is 'released' when going to the numeric keypad section using the "&123"-key just under that shift-key. So the numeric values are never accessible to me in this layout.

My goal is to find a Sitekiosk on screen keyboard layout which allows my customers to enter numeric values as well as the "\"-symbol, using the french-belgium layout (azerty). Looks like a no-brainer, but I'm struggling with the fact that some keyboards layouts don't give me "\"-sign (touchbrowser or lightweight international for example), and others don't give me the numeric values (Win 8 touchscreen). I've tried numerous combinations of shift and ctrl, to no avail. So if you can give me a keyboard layout which is all, I would be a happy camper.

Hello,

Sorry that was my fault. The Numbers can’t be accessed with your language when using the “Windows 8 Touchscreen” keyboard design-

You need to switch to another one keyboard layout and I would advice using the “TouchBrowser” keyboard layout.

The "\"-sign isn’t available at the TouchBrowser keyboard layout with that language (French Belgium) but you can use the following solution when using the TouchBrowser keyboard layout (not floating but docked):
Go to the folder “…\Skins\Provisio\lightweight_int_touchbrowser” and open the file “lightweight_int_touchbrowser.xml” with an editor.
Search for these lines:

<macro sound="0" type="0"><!-- .com -->
<icon path="skins\provisio\lightweight_int_touchbrowser\com.png">
	<rect x1="855" y1="158" x2="909" y2="200" />
</icon>
	<shape>
		<rect x1="855" y1="158" x2="909" y2="200" />
	</shape>
	<mkey char="." />
	<mkey char="c" />
	<mkey char="o" />
	<mkey char="m" />
</macro>

Then replace them with this:

<key sound="0" type="0" char="\">
	<shape>
		<rect x1="855" y1="158" x2="909" y2="200" />
	</shape>
</key>

With this solution the .com key will be replaced with a key displaying the "\"-sign:

NOTE:
- On Windows versions with UAC activated (Vista/7/8) start the editor you use to change settings as Administrator (Run as Administrator) to be sure that you can save the changes (because of UAC).

Michael,

Thank you very much for this workaround, it worked !

I Would never have found this myself :-)

Now that I understand the underlying logic a little better, I also was able to reproduce this method in Sitekiosk 8.7 with the Lightweight International keyboard.
This means that I am now able to give about 100 tablets in our organisation a more complete keyboard layout in our language !

Thanks again,
